Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) is a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene and tetrafluoroethylene that shares PTFE’s chemical resistance and useful low friction properties but is more easily formable. Fluorinated ethylene industrial coatings melt and flow during, amongst other, baking to provide nonporous films. FEP is similar in composition to the fluoropolymers PTFE with a maximum operating temperature of 2000C. These industrial coatings have excellent non-stick properties and a low coefficient of friction. FEP shares the some of the same non-stick properties qualities as Teflon though its structure is slightly different. FEP is softer therefore melts at a lower temperature than PTFE. FEP coatings are excellent fluoropolymer options for applications that require chemical resistance, high release, and non-stick properties.
