Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), tradename (Teflon), is a synthetic fluoropolymer coating known for its exceptional non-stick properties, water repellence, chemical resistance, and stability across a wide temperature range. PTFE is an incredibly versatile material with a wide variety of applications. PTFE possess low friction properties such as resistance to swelling and permeability. PTFE if often used for wire insulation jackets and remain flexible throughout its service life (can be more than 30years). PTFE is used to generate resistance around magnetic wires in motor cores that can withstand the high electric field strengths in applications where motors run at voltages of up to 2000V AC and 3000V DC. These motors generally operate at 2000C so the wire jacket properties must be maintained at these temperatures.
